All authors, editors and reviewers in Journal for Mountain Resources and Environment are expected to adhere to the Code of Ethics. In addition, there are some journal specific policies:
Open access online publishing: JMRE is published online only. Authors are NOT charged with a publishing fee. JMRE does NOT charge any submission fees. All papers are published under a Creative Commons license. With Creative Commons licenses, the author retains copyright and the public is allowed to reuse the content. The author grants JMRE a license to publish the article and identify as the original publisher. If a paper is accepted for publication, the author identified as the formal corresponding author will receive an email with the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.
Data Sharing and Data Accessibility: JMRE expects that data supporting the results in the paper will be archived in an appropriate public repository. This must be done before the paper is published online. Whenever possible, the scripts and other artefacts used to generate the analyses presented in the paper should also be publicly archived. Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the editor for sensitive information such as human subject data or the location of endangered species. Authors can choose independently the registered and certified repositories appropriate for their data. Authors must provide a data accessibility statement including a link to the repository they have used in their title page.
Double anonymous review: To reduce biases in the review process, JMRE uses a double-anonymous peer review system, in which neither authors nor reviewers know each other’s identities. Authors and reviewers should strive to keep their identity concealed.
Duplicate Publication of Research Results: JMRE does not consider for publication articles that have been published in substantial part or in full in a scientific journal, book, or similar entity or that are being considered for publication elsewhere. Organizational working papers and manuscripts that appear on the author’s personal website or in an institutional repository, however, are not viewed as prior publication, and such manuscripts can therefore be submitted. Authors must make a declaration that their manuscript conforms to these requirements.
Publication Ethics and plagiarism: JMRE employs a plagiarism detection system. The journal uses a dedicated software to detect instances of overlapping and similar text in submitted manuscripts. By submitting your manuscript, you accept that it may be screened for similarity against previously published works.
Conflict of Interest: The journal requires that all authors disclose any potential sources of conflict of interest. Any interest or relationship, financial or otherwise that might be perceived as influencing an author's objectivity is considered a potential source of conflict of interest. These must be disclosed when directly relevant or directly related to the work that the authors describe in their manuscript. Potential sources of conflict of interest include, but are not limited to: patent or stock ownership, membership of a company board of directors, membership of an advisory board or committee for a company, and consultancy for or receipt of speaker's fees from a company. The existence of a conflict of interest does not preclude publication and the statement is included in the blinded section. If the authors have no conflict of interest to declare, they must also state this at submission.
Authorship: The list of authors should accurately illustrate who contributed to the work and how. All those listed as authors should qualify for authorship according to all three criteria:
- Have made substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data, or been involved in drafting the manuscript, or revising it;
- Each author should have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content;
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Contributions from anyone who does not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed, with permission from the contributor, in an Acknowledgments section. Prior to submitting the article all authors should agree on the order in which their names will be listed in the manuscript.
The title page must include an Author Contribution Statement indicating the specific contributions of each author.
Privacy and well-being of research subjects: methods used to safeguard the privacy and well-being of human and animal subjects should be disclosed. This includes the use of Tracking Technology: When monitoring devices that could collect data on people (e.g. drones, camera traps) or data on people’s behavior or opinions derived from social media or other technologies are used, ensure the reporting does not violate privacy or cause other harm. This applies even if collection of data on people is not deliberate.
Geopolitical neutrality: The boundaries, denominations, and other information shown on any manuscript and its illustrations are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not imply any judgment on the part of JMRE with regards to the legal status of any territory or the endorsement or acceptance of boundaries or territorial claims.
The use of AI: Authors should disclose in their main manuscript, before the Reference list, the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process (the use of AI tools to analyse the data should be clearly referred in the Methods section). The statement will appear in the published work: During the preparation of this work the author(s) used [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the publication.
Please note that authors are ultimately responsible and accountable for the contents of the work.
